Picking Summer Gooseberries

I have an abundance of delicious summer berries being picked at the farm.

This week, my housekeepers harvested lots and lots of gooseberries. Gooseberries are one of summer’s delights. These small, tart fruits are delicious eaten raw at the peak of ripeness, or used for making jams, jellies, pies and other desserts. They are low in calories and packed with essential nutrients such as vitamins A and C, manganese and dietary fiber.

As you know, I grow many berries - I love sharing them with family and friends, and freezing them for use all year long. My tip for freezing is to place a layer of berries onto a baking sheet and freeze them until they are solid, then transfer them into plastic bags or containers, so they store easily back in the freezer. Enjoy these photos.
