Attending the Sing for Hope 2010 Gala
Last November, I blogged about the Sing for Hope Gala, which my nephew, Christopher Herbert, invited me to attend. In addition to being an artist in his own right, Christopher also works for Sing for Hope, a non-profit organization that mobilizes more than 600 professional artists in volunteer service programs that benefit schools, hospitals, and communities. These artists include classical musicians, Broadway performers, dancers, poets, and photographers. Once again, Christopher invited me to the 2010 Gala, held last Thursday in Manhattan.
Sing for Hope honorees of the evening were Tony Bennett - 15-time Grammy Award Winner, Kennedy Center Honoree, and recipient of the United Nations Citizen of the World Award; Ronald Perelman – Businessman and Philanthropist; and Ann Ziff – Metropolitan Opera Co-Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Center. The performances were astounding and I am truly awed by the generosity and dedication of these amazing artists. Sing for Hope is a most worthy cause and I’m already looking forward to next year’s Gala.

It is nice of all those people/artists to help out with the various charities.
And, your nephew is a good-looking young man, and I think he has your smile.

Martha great picture of you and your nephew.
On another note saw your tweets from the Yankee game - they played as bad as the Phillies!! I was so hoping for a Yankee - Philly rematch so we can show you who the real champions are but they way both teams are playing it's not looking too good.

Laura,
I bet you just beam whenever someone mentions your kids! I know I would because they are wonderful! It's nice to know Christopher's voice was okay for singing this year - I think last year he had gotten a sore throat while in Paris.

Thanks Martha for providing another group of interesting pictures. Sing for Hope appears to be pretty special. Trish

Hi Martha, Thanks for sharing this fabulous most worthy cause that you attended with your handsome, talented nephew Christopher Dylan Herbert. Once again great photos of people who are involved in these causes. My favorite photos were of you and Christopher and those of one of my favorite singers, Tony Bennett. Thanks for the twitter photos of the Yankees game last night. Hope they win today. Another great TV show yesterday, also. Jan

Martha,
You'll have to get Francesca and Sharkey to herd sheep like our Chihuahua Gigi does. She also keeps our Bourbon Red turkeys in.
